GENERAL RULES

A         Entries and Entry Fees

Entries may be made either by entering online or by post on the official entry form.  If entering by post you must include a large, ready to use (minimum A5 size) stamped, addressed envelope with adequate postage for the return of the ride details.  Blank entry forms may be photocopied and new ones are available from the Endurance GB office or it can be downloaded.
A separate entry form must be used for each horse.  Making an entry constitutes acceptance of the rules of Endurance GB.  An organiser has the right to refuse any entry.
All entry fees quoted by Ride Organisers must show, where applicable, itemised fees for ride entries, stabling, corralling, camping, accommodation and any other obligatory charges.
All fees must be included in the entry and sent to the Ride Secretary for the relevant ride, the contact details are listed in the Ride Programme.

Members are required to pay in full for any entry they may wish to make for any Endurance GB ride, by cheque or postal order or, if entering on-line by credit/debit card.  Fax and email entries are not acceptable and payment must accompany a postal entry.
If payment is made by cheque, then on the first occasion of a dishonoured payment, the member may be charged an administration fee, and will be contacted by the Endurance GB Finance Committee and given the opportunity to supply the necessary finances to cover the entry made.   If a similar occurrence occurs at a later date, the member will be notified that his/her details are being forwarded to the Disciplinary Panel for disciplinary action.  Any subsequent difficulties in obtaining payment from the member will result in the immediate suspension of his/her membership.

B         Refunds

100% of an Entry fee shall be refunded if the Ride Secretary, on or before the “close of entries” date, receives notice of withdrawal in writing, by email or by telephone.  100% of an Entry fee shall be refunded if notice of withdrawal is received by the Ride Secretary after close of entries and prior to the allocated veterinary inspection time, subject to production of a supporting doctor’s certificate, vet’s certificate, or photocopy of the Master card showing that the horse has been eliminated on veterinary grounds at a ride not more than 16 days prior to the ride entered. At multi-day events, no refunds will be given once the event has commenced.  All requests for refunds shall be made to the Ride Organiser within 10 days of the ride date.  Ride Organisers will endeavour to process refunds within 3 weeks of receiving the request.  Refunds for stabling, camping or corralling will depend upon the arrangements in the schedule of the ride or the pre-ride information, irrespective of ride closing dates.  If an entry has been made online, the rider must withdraw from the ride using the online system. The refunds will then be made via the credit/debit card used. As with postal entries the refund will be 100% of the entry fees before the Ride Close date. Similarly after the Ride Close date supporting documentation must be produced before the refund of 100% will be authorised.

C         Ride Information

Ride details such as vetting / start times, map, route description and other details will be dispatched after close of entries, usually 7-10 days before the event.  All competitors must enclose a large SAE (minimum A5 size) which has suitable postage and it should not require additional adhesive.

Please note additional stamps may be required if multiple entries are to be returned in the same envelope.

D         Substitutions

Riders or horses (but not both) may be substituted up to half an hour before the allocated vet time of competition.  Substitute riders or horses must be eligible according to the conditions of the class, and the rules of Endurance GB.

E          Vet Sheets

Details of Horse, Rider and Class must be completed in ballpoint pen, clearly legible before the pre-ride vetting.

F          Ride Entry Fees

The Ride Entry Fees are shown separately.

G         Stallions

All stallions must wear bridle discs and a blue tail ribbon.  The bridle discs will be supplied by EGB when the stallion is registered. For non members the Ride Secretary may supply discs for use during the Ride.

H         Crews

While all riders are recommended to have a crew, all riders competing in ER's MUST have their own crew.
A Ride Organiser may require all riders (CR & NCR) to have a crew where the terrain or the route require it. The behaviour and actions of the Crew are the responsibility of the Rider – penalties may be imposed if problems are caused by a Crew. A Ride Organiser may require crewing to only be carried out at certain locations!
If it is necessary to remove the horse from the course, it is the competitor’s responsibility, and not that of the Ride Organiser, to arrange transport for themselves and the horse.

I         Help at Rides

We all enjoy a wonderful sport, which gives us endless pleasure, so it is good to be able to put something back into the sport that gives us so much.  We do hope that members will be prepared to give up some time to help Ride Organisers to put on the events that we all enjoy so much.  Help is needed in many ways, from car parking to vet writing, time-keeping to gate opening, working in the ride office, being a Technical Steward, or stewarding a checkpoint.

All riders should make every effort to volunteer to help at a ride at least once in a season.  It will also be of great help to a Ride Organiser if you volunteer to help at a ride well in advance.  At the beginning of the season, as you go through the Ride Programme for the current year, noting which rides you are planning to enter, also make a note of the ride at which you can help.  Give the Ride Organiser a call straight away and book yourself a place as a helper – it will be greatly appreciated.

Other members, and indeed many non-members, give up a day so that you can enjoy your rides.  If every member of Endurance GB gives back one day of his or her time, then our Ride Organisers’ lives will be much easier.
