Chatanz is a Grade 1 ARAB HORSE SOCIETY PREMIUM STALLION. He has passed the NASTA Performance Test at Grade 1 level, with particularly high marks for his paces and performance cross country. He was a Grade 1 Arab Racehorse, winning or being placed in most of his 34 starts, including winning the British Bred Championship at Goodwood. (Also won by his son Al Reeh Janoob). He has been a successful Endurance horse with numerous Grade 1’s and ER placings. He won the Berkshire Downs 65Km ER , the FEI Young Riders ER at Haywood Oaks, and was chosen for the EGB Intermediate Team in 2002. He has also been placed twice in the Arab Marathon. Many of his progeny are now competing in Endurance, notably Falaina Bint Chatanz and Gryphon have won FEI ERs and Awali Chatila has won the Berkshire Downs Novice ER. In 2003 and 2005, Chatanz won the AHS Premium Scheme’s leading Current Sire of Endurance Horses award, (the all time leading sire being Chatanz’s Premium stallion sire, Bonanza). His dam, Chatelaine was 1991 EHPS Novice Champion and the 1992 Leading Arab Racehorse.
Chatanz is a very versatile horse. He was won in-hand and ridden showing classes, riding club dressage and show-jumping events. He has a natural show-jumping technique and is also being used to sire some 'Arabian Warmblood' competition horses. But by far his greatest asset is his easy-going, calm disposition. He is a joy to own and handle and is a 'bomb-proof' ride.
