WORLD ENDURANCE CHAMPIONSHIPS 2008 – MALAYSIA
INVITATION FOR INDIVIDUAL PARTICIPATION
Although the Endurance Championships is primarily a team competition for four horse/rider combinations, Nations not entering the team competition may nevertheless enter up to two combinations to compete as individuals. The Management Committee of Endurance GB (EGBMC) has reviewed its decision not to enter a team taking into account available advice and representations. It has concluded that decision should stand but that it will allow participation by two qualified combinations on an individual basis.
In these exceptional circumstances, Individuals who believe that they and their horse can satisfy the special qualification requirements for the Malaysian Championships and wish to compete at the Championships are invited to contact Maggie Maguire, Chair of the EGB International Committee, as soon as possible and in any event no later than June 30th so that details can be confirmed in time for the nomination date in August. Entry in principle has been submitted this invitation is open to all EGB Members, regardless of location, including those who are not currently a member of the International Senior Squad system.
CONDITIONS FOR PARTICPATION
EGB will be responsible only for ensuring that individuals satisfy the FEI technical qualification and entry requirements. Riders and Owners will be asked to confirm in writing that they understand that all other aspects of participation, such as travel, accommodation, veterinary support and all costs will be the sole responsibility of the individual rider. Any costs which have to paid by EGB on the Rider’s behalf will be invoiced to the Rider with payment due within 28 days.

SELECTION
In the event that there are more than two suitably qualified combinations, EGB will determine the order of priority for entry by evaluating the aspects of a Combination’s preparedness for the competition set out below. There will be no appeal against the outcome of such evaluation.
a) Previous CEI/CEIO experience of horse and rider
b) Ability of the combination to compete in the environmental and climatic conditions expected in Malaya
c) Veterinary support
d) Groom/crew support
e) Evidence of cross-continental travel
F} Current and future training and preparation arrangements.
It must be stressed that this is a one off decision and that selection for forthcoming Championships will be in accordance with the Selection Policy and that those seeking selection in future must be members of the Senior International Squad.
